Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about mastering at Hague House
What's the difference between remote and attended mastering?
Remote mastering is done online — you upload your files and we deliver the finished master digitally. Attended mastering happens in our Canary Wharf studio — you sit with the engineer, hear the results on our reference monitors, and give feedback in real time. Both produce release-ready results.
What format should I send my mix in?
We recommend WAV or AIFF at 24-bit, 44.1kHz or higher. Please don't apply limiting or heavy compression to your master bus — leave us headroom to work with (peaks around -3dB to -6dB is ideal).
How do I know if my mix is ready for mastering?
Use our free Mastering Readiness Check tool. It walks you through a quick survey about your mix and tells you if anything needs fixing before you submit.
Can I choose my mastering engineer?
Yes, with the Remote Enhanced, Attended, Deluxe, and Stem Mastering packages. Remote Standard uses the first available engineer from our team.
What if I'm not happy with the master?
Every package includes at least 1 revision round (Deluxe includes unlimited). You communicate directly with your engineer to get exactly the sound you want.
Is there a discount for albums or EPs?
Yes — for projects of 5+ tracks, get in touch and we'll create a custom quote with album sequencing, consistent levels across tracks, and a bulk discount.
Do you offer vinyl pre-mastering?
Yes. Our Deluxe package can include vinyl-specific masters with adjusted EQ, bass management, and track sequencing for side A/B splits.
What monitoring do you use?
Our mastering suite features calibrated full-range monitors in an acoustically treated room, plus high-end headphone reference checks. Every master is tested across multiple playback systems.
